Sleep Apnea Treatment

Snoring

Are you or someone you care about having trouble sleeping at night due to labored breathing or excessive snoring? Treatment that may drastically improve quality of life is available at Brunswick Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine. The two most common symptoms for sleep apnea are loud snoring and excessive sleepiness during waking hours. Left untreated, such a condition is known to increase the risk for cardiovascular disease and stroke.

At Brunswick Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine, we take a holistic approach to treatment for this type of sleeping disorder. In our Garden State Sleep Center, we have the staff and equipment needed to help you find lasting relief for your sleeping issues. Our sleep center is conveniently located right within our medical suite.

How Is Sleep Apnea Evaluated?

Before beginning any type of treatment, a healthcare professional will take your history and perform your exam; a physician may discuss spending a night in our accredited upscale sleep center. Your sleep will be evaluated through leads measuring your muscle activity, eye movement, respiratory effort, airflow, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels. This will help us determine if you have a disorder and how severe it is.

The most common treatment for obstructed breathing pathways is the use of a continuous positive airway pressure device (CPAP). The CPAP mask is designed to fit comfortably over your nose and mouth and provide a continuous flow of oxygen to your lungs so that your sleep cycle doesn’t get interrupted.
